DRY-NEEDLING

What Is Dry-Needling?

What to Expect?

A technique Physical Therapists use to treat pain and speed up tissue healing with accuracy. This techniques uses a "dry needle", meaning not containing medication, inserted into the tissue.

By doing this, pain coming from taut bands of tissue known as "trigger points" can be decreased. This tiny "injury" can decrease hyperactive pain receptors and it can also signal new healing in an are of interest, like tendonitis.

A Physical Therapist will insert a thin monofilament sterile needle into a specific muscle area. The whole process may be done in 15 minutes or less with pain relief potentially achieved immediately and lasting for weeks.

In most cases you then will perform or receive a personalized exercise and/or stretch program to encourage proper muscle function and maximize your results.

*Localized bruising or soreness are not uncommon.
