What Is Running Assessment?

The HBPT Running Assessment or Running Mechanics Analysis is a 7 Step Process to identify factors leading to performance deficits and/or injury risk for runners.  

 

This assessment is beneficial for runners at all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes. Our ultimate goal is to unleash your running potential and help you continue doing what you love years to come.

Our 7 Step Formula

PRE-EVALUATION QUESTIONNAIRE

Our team will gather information on about your running experience level, current training routine, specific injuries, concerns and goals. 

IN PERSON REVIEW

Together we discuss and review the information collected in the pre-evaluation questionnaire

FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT TESTING

Evaluation of mobility and strength specific to running. Identify any deficits that align with those observed during screening. 

TREADMILL MOVEMENT TESTING

We'll perform a video analysis with a slow motion review. Classify your running stride pattern. Gauge cadence. And assess for any breakdowns in mechanics.

ANALYSIS DISCUSSION

We'll discuss assessment findings. Provide insights into potential injury risk factors. Discuss findings affecting your overall running economy. 

RECOMMENDATIONS

Offer specific recommendations: Exercises or drills to address identified issues. Provide guidance with control/progression of running volume. 

PROGRESS MONITORING

Discuss progress monitoring and plank of attack if experiencing current or obvious potential injury.
