Dr. Sophie Zimmerman grew up in southern Vermont and went on to receive her B.S in Exercise Science followed by her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont. Sophie had the opportunity to practice in a wide variety of settings during her clinical rotations ranging from outpatient orthopedics to home health physical therapy and therefore has gained experience with a range of patient populations. Ultimately, Sophie developed a strong interest and love for working with active and motivated patients in the outpatient setting and has been mainly working in outpatient PT since receiving her degree and starting practice in 2022 and relocating to North Carolina. She has become a strong believer in the power of one-on-one, individualized care and meeting each patient where they are in order to optimize the patient experience and allow them to meet or surpass their physical goals. Sophie was always active growing up as both a dancer and soccer player and has maintained her passion for exercise and movement into her adult life. She has continued to pursue new ways to keep herself active and healthy and has fallen in love with the challenge of endurance running over the past few years. She has now completed multiple half marathons and is excited for more to come with her running journey! Sophie has been with Healthy Body PT since summer of 2023 and practicing at the Bailey office in Cornelius, NC. She has recently completed her Running Gait Analysis certification to further improve her ability to work with the running community and treat running related injuries. Outside of work, Sophie can be most often found at the gym, on a run, or spending time with her significant other and their labrador, Remi.
